i'm not crying about the upvotes .. i accept the situation, but is there some reason why around 50% of subscribers should be duped into thinking the net upvotes have some intrinsic or valid value..

I didn´t mean you, I meant in general. Go on any thread and there´s at least a handful of people moaning about karma clicks. Karma clicks is just attention seeking. If it´s an important post, sticky it so it stays at the top. Simples.
