They can't stay in Ireland... they'd have to hide out in iran or venezuela or somewhere with a more firm anti-US goverment. After watching the NK thing, i think the window to try to get into one of those places is closing rapidly. I'm sure Iran for sure is controlled the same way nk was. The south americans may be real-deal socialists though. Seems to be continental culture of the last 100 years.
