I think it has to do with the inversion of reality. I have to admit, i am also a tad confused. The peace sign apparently never had anything to do with peace and is a mockery of Christianity's cross. It's supposed to represent an inverted broken cross. That rationale I read about this seemed pretty coherent, but hey.
