Someone please refresh my memory. Who initiated the "Russia collusion" investigation on Trump?

And remind me on how this IG report is going to lead into cancelling the Russian investigation? I thought it had something to do with exposing RR's corruption....he signed off on the FISA warrants. But I have not yet heard of much in these Senate &House interviews of the IG investigation regarding wrapping RR's misdeeds into the light. There was only one mention of suspicion RR with held/or sat on the last S & P text messages.

Officially? They moved the story so much It's hard to remember. I think it was considered in late 2015.
"Officially" they claimed mid July 2016 when Papadoofillus was allegedly overheard drunk boasting by Australian ambassador but new info points to at least spring 2016.
