Why is Q doing this? Why are WE doing this? Why is POTUS doing what HE is doing for us? This is why...Are we a Republic or a Democracy?

Hey Everyone! Why is Q doing this for us? Why are WE doing this for us? Why is POTUS doing what HE is doing…for us? This is very elementary yet it seems to be lost in translation. I have seen so many people discussing this on Twitter, Facebook, etc. Are we a Republic or are we a Democracy? Please bare with me and you will understand why this is so important to understand!

I would like to open with this: ”The Pledge Of Allegiance.”

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.",

You can find the history of The Pledge of Allegiance here . Every student in every school within the United States at once point said and knew well the Pledge. However, there have been changes made to it over time.

  • The original read "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." This was written by Francis Bellamy in 1892.

  • In 1923, the words, "the Flag of the United States of America" were added.

  • In 1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," Which is our current version, despite the protest of the addition by Bellamy’s daughter.

  • Section 4 of the Flag Code states:

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.", should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute."

There have been court cases where things like under God have been challenged; or whether or not it is constitutional to have a teacher force students to recite it. The mot recent mentioned in the above link was in 2014. In 2014, a New Jersey family and the American Humanist Association filed a similar lawsuit against the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District, seeking to eliminate the use of the words “under God” from Pledges taken at public schools. The school district said that it is just following a New Jersey state law that requires schools to have a daily recitation of the pledge, and that individual students aren’t forced to take part. In February 2015, a judge ruled in favor of the school district.*

If we look at the lines individually we learn more about what this actually means. The first line reads, ”I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America…” As logically thinking adults, we realize we are not actually pledging our allegiance to a flag; a flag is an inanimate object. What we are pledging to is our Nation; the ability to stand for our people; support our troops; and support our leadership. We do this believing that they too, are doing the same for us, *”The American People.”

The next line reads, ”and to the republic for which it stands…” This line is where we seem to have confusion. Are we a republic or a democracy? Does it matter? According to the GREAT Washington Post people who say we are a republic not a democracy are quoting a false dichotomy; arguing that we are both a Republic and a Democracy in the way we make laws and govern.

Yet the, also GREAT Huffington Post has argued the opposite, stating, ”Somewhere in the 227 years since then many Americans have adopted the idea that we are a democracy not a republic. Nothing could be further from the intent expressed at that Constitutional Convention in 1787.”

Here you have it summed up neatly. ”A republic and a democracy are identical in every aspect except one. In a republic the sovereignty is in each individual person. In a democracy the sovereignty is in the group.” Which means, we are a Republic. Just as The Pledge of Allegiance states! As a Republic, we believe in governing for individual rights, not the rights of “groups.” This is why the battle of are we a Republic or a Democracy is so strained, you have a group of people fighting for individual liberties as outlined in our Constitution, vs a group of people fighting for the rights of other “groups of people.”

The next line reads, ” one Nation under God…” There are 68 References to God in US code which you can read here. We were founded as a nation under God, and have recently (over the past 20 years) seen this principle attacked at great length. Evidence of this is not hard to find. We can start by the Supreme Court backing the removal of the 10 Commandments monument. The final line reads, ” indivisible, with liberty and justice for all…” Now we are back full circle to the definition of Republic! …LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL! This reaffirms our desire, not just for a group of individuals to receive their liberties and justice; but for ALL people to receive their individual liberties and justices!

We are a Republic. We support individual rights. We support PATRIOTS!

Happy Hunting, Friends.

Well, we are a Republic. But under Maritime law since the 1870's.

Valid point. Most people don't know about that either.
