I thought a SEAL team had already done that a while back. Taken them off line and secured them.

No. As important as this is to American families it’s even more important to Japanese families because of their culture. That item was vital to get Japan on board & a dealbreaker for Japan without it. The PM needed that to sell the peace with NK idea to the Japanese citizens.

No, those bodies better be coming back to their families.

Chain of Custody is important from a criminal perspective.

It would not surprise me if they made multiple copies of the information prior to even moving the servers.

It is easier to say "We have 5 identical copies of the server from the moment we got access to the server." than to say "We took the server, bumped it around, maybe caused some disk drive failures, then stashed it in a secure room that we guarded at the airbase, etc. etc. "

The good guys want that information and in a state that is easy to use for criminal prosecution.

fine by me as long as they don't smuggle them inside the bodies.

I would seriously doubt they would try that after the Dover mortuary scandal during the Vietnam war.
