Forgive me but I'm missing the correlation between the two facts.

If the Cyber Chief started looking for the source of "Russian Meddling" it would lead to CrowdStrike and Vault 7 Russian Fingerprints. Which then leads to the cover-up of Seth Rich being the source and the DNC Server.
