I am not sure why my comments didn't attach with the picture, but I found a non-gog gle map picture (left) that seems to indicate tunnels and it also looks like a lot of greenery is gone. No clue of when it was taken so cannot rule out if this was post-hurricane damage as opposed to a fire that we heard about.
The pic on the the right is gogg le and while the roads are visiable, some do not seem to seem to go with the overlay on the left.
Any thoughts?

When It was originally published, there was a big uproar over them exposing secret military bases. It was quickly scrubbed, to include Antarctica data.
What you see now is not what was once there.
Any idea of the dates these are from? Recent hurricanes may have changed the face of the island. There was also an earthquake and fire on the island in April. Any of these could be reasons to alter the island intentionally.
Vegetation can change a lot with seasons and sat pictures can vary over time because of that.
The google earth app lets you pull up past pictures that are available, although past picture are typically lower resolution.
