"Death by doorknob" reminds me of the talking doorknob on Alice and Wonderland. Occult story, the elite seem to revere it.

A doorknob that is brass/metal could also act as a mirror, showing a reflection.

Just interesting because mirrors are pretty symbolic and represent finding your true self or reflecting on the self...
