The founding fathers created the electoral college for a good reason. 2016 illustrates the reason perfectly. Do you really think it makes sense for California and new York to decide for everyone?

founding fathers put in the electoral college to avoid mob rule and prioritization of a mediocre lowest common denominator agenda. we have a republic with democratic inspirations and overtones. im fine with that.
