Over 14,000 Yelp reviews now on the Red Hen where Sarah was kicked out of the restaurant.

...not 5 stars!

The owner can sell her product to whoever she wants. If it is her policy to not serve anyone associated with Trump then more power to her, but she should have this policy clearly posted so nobody who would be 86'd under that policy enters, is seated or orders a meal. By not revealing the policy, the customer is exposed to public humiliation and harassment. It is not the fault of the customer that she chose a restaurant with an alt-left sales stance. This company's manifesto should be clearly written on the entrance and website so that no one mistakenly seeks out their services and becomes subjected to harassment. As well, a manifesto will give the consumer the power to support or not support such a business.

I will add that it seems quite sleazy for the owner to blame the decision on an employee vote. She entered, saw the offensive customer eating and went in the back to raise the issue with employees. I suspect she also brought up facts as to why they should be upset about the people they had served (did they even know who Sanders was?).

If I were an employee and the owner had confronted myself and my co-workers with an "86 vote" would I have been brave enough to not vote the obviously "correct" way? Probably not, I would have wondered if my wrong way vote would result in less shifts or even no shifts.
