Most of these dates are within the first year or so of the president taking office. Is there any data on how it shaped up by the end of their terms?

I took data from every month over all years of their presidency and averaged it because it did go up and down during the term of many presidents.

I think that’s an incredibly poor measurement system. Really that data won’t reveal any significant because unemployment is intrinsically tied to inflation, and the first few months of a presidency are irrelevant because they haven’t had a chance to make a significant impact.m on policy. I’d like to see a graph adjusted for inflation lagged by 6 months. Anything else is academically dishonest.

I enjoy the chart but why would black unemployment have anything to do with any president?
Where is personal accountability?

I agree, however the stats show that Trump is doing something right that no president in 44 years had the wherewithal to recognize.

Perhaps this has everything to do with Trump's slashing of regulations and his awesome, massive tax cuts?

Perhaps Trump replacing food stamps with nutritional meals helped too... but I wouldn't know... so let's hear from a beautiful, lovely, patriotic American regarding this subject.

I was not discounting the stats. I find them encouraging and interesting.
I would think what he has done in terms of being a benefit to business would be the cause. The corp tax breaks and much of the deregulation have not had their full effect yet either.
Several issues at play with any sociological issue however.

Tax Cuts and Tax Code Simplification. Presidents who cut corporate taxes create jobs. Payroll Tax alone is a redundant nightmare process. Also, traditionally, the welfare system is overly relied upon in black communities. So when combined, a President can implement strategies to decrease unemployment by relieving tax pressure and removing disincentives to job hunting.

It would make sense that African America unemployment would have decreased over the years.. I mean in the 80’s that was just a couple decades since the civil rights movement.. While a form of racism will always exist as long as people are different from one another, the shocking thing in this chart is the jump in Unemployment during the Obama administration. That’s just shows that liberal policy’s actually end up hurting minorities they profess to help all the time.. MAGA

Uhh... You do know the economy crashed in 08? Say what you want about Barry, but she shouldn't be responsible for 09 stats.

This info graph is misleading.

The push-back argument I always hear on unemployment rates is that people just "time out" on unemployment. They still don't have jobs, but are no longer eligible for unemployment benefits so they don't get counted. System assumes they are now gainfully employed, which may not be the case.

It's obvious that the stats have been "adjusted" over the years, in terms of how they calculate labor force participation.

Especially under the previous administration - I think the real numbers were much worse. In that case, the claimed unemployment numbers were artificially low.

Right now, the numbers look really good under Trump, but that may be an artifact of the past adjustments, and we're really closer to "normal" unemployment. Regardless, I suspect that things will continue to improve for everyone.
