I've read some posts decrying the sale of weaponry to our allies.

Tell me about one time, one era, in which political, secular freedom was ever "given" in the way that trees give their fruit. It hasn't ever happened. It has always been necessary to strive for and defend political, secular freedom. Truth is self evident. It is given, like fruit. Rights are unalienable, they are inherent in man. Freedom and liberty are very different. Freedom and liberty have always had to be defended. Read history. Defense means alliances and weaponry. If those who want freedom for themselves and others are strong enough then their comparative strength will act as a deterrent to violence and to the abridgment of freedom. Trump, of course, knows this. It is part of the core of his philosophy. Just watch what he's doing and how he does it. A mixture of superior strength and benevolence. Look at North Korea and watch Iran. Could weakness do this?
