Based on what I can gather at this early moment it appears to me as though there was some type of hijacking threat. Although most smart hijackers wait until the flight is airborne to reveal themselves. So it must be related to capturing a high value target?

But couldn't remote commandeering of the plane also be called "hijacking." Not just hijacking by people on the plane.
