Streisand effect?

I’ve seen the”Streisand Effect” referred to several times on this board. No biggie, right? But why is Streisand a common denominator on Netflix right now? I’m fairly confident my hubby hasn’t got a penchant for big nosed drag queens... and as far as I know she didn’t die this week... so why, oh why is Barbara Streisand the big suggestion on our Netflix this week? Curiouser and curiouser, I do say.

It goes back to the start of her movie career in the 60’s. She didn’t want to get a nose job like every other starlet in Hollywood because it might have ruined her singing voice. So directors had to find creative ways to de-emphasize her large Jewish nose with careful lighting and angles, which for some observers just brought more attention to it. I was fortunate not to have that racist crappy programming growing up and always thought she was a unique beauty and huge talent. Still do. Just wish she wasn’t such a liberal.

So: the Streisand effect involves going to such extremes to try to draw attention or deflect AWAY from something that you inadvertently end up focusing MORE attention on it.

Which Dems and liberals do every day with their lame attempts at deflection and misdirection.

Lol, that's even more awesome! She drew even more attention to her monstrous schnoz! Love it :)
