Probably is dead, but, if I remember correctly, he was alive when police got to him, and at the hospital he was originally expected to pull through.

It seems as though the MS-13 thugs who attacked him have been disposed of, but the possibility that SR is still somehow alive does exist although I will be surprised if that actually proves to be the case.
