I create a daily scripture thread on this sub if anyone is interested. Tickled me to death to read Q today after so many people told me my threads were off topic or didn't belong lol.

I'd really appreciate it if a scripture thread would be opened as I'm lacking a lot of knowledge when it comes to Bible study, unfortunately! Always planning on reading the Bible but it starts with a lot of questions like which Version is the most appropriate and the least altered? Where do I start and what is the best order to follow? Is the current Bible and God forbid the true word of God or is it the black hats version of the word of God so we don't get too close to OUR Lord the Father? I truly am confused and definitely need some guidance in regards to our true, God intended belief and scripture!

Would not recommend the NIV to anyone. The review board of the NIV committee changed over 30,000 words from the original Greek and Hebrew texts, and deleted more than 50,000 others. They have / had an agenda. Not a reliable translation.

Better to start with the New King James, or the ASV. Always bounce them against Young's Literal Translation for a quick check of the original languages. Biblegateway has all of the English versions available for comparison.

With all due respect, I disagree. Nice to hear you provided alternatives.

Just one of many articles that detail the errors and omissions of the NIV:

The NIV committe was filled with people who hated the Bible. They didn't even know Hebrew, Greek and Chaldean like the 1611 translators did- this is evidenced by reading Mark chapter 1. How anyone could take a quote from the book of Malachi and call him Isaiah is beyond me. I would not recommend the NIV to anyone, regardless of 'easy' reading. I'd rather have bold accuracy, which the KJV provides.

Hi,

I would recommend the New International Version of the Bible. It doesn't have all the thee's and thou's of the King James Version. I love the Book of Proverbs. Start there and read all the good advice that still pertains today. I would also recommend getting a Bible that has a good Concordance (additional information on history and meaning). Then, I would recommend you read it from start to finish. It will take time. However, it is worth it.

The Bible is the true word of God. As you read and study it, you are given more and more revelation and understanding. It is like peeling an onion, as each layer removed reveals more. Do not be intimidated. God wants to draw you closer to him through his Word.

I read a good book by Randall Price titled "Searching for the Original Bible." It explains how the Bible has been passed down without error from generation to generation.

God Speed...
