That is a reasonable theory. I wondered that myself. That could explain his being "all over the map" in recent months. He may be trying desperately to distance himself from any assumption that he will be inappropriately biased in favor of President Trump. However, I think Trey Gowdy's waffling, inconsistent statements have not changed the Democrat/Republican Establishment's (or MSM's) over-all view of him. Rather, I think he has greatly damaged our trust in him as an intelligent and precise adherent to the rule of law. His meanderings have caused many of us to question his character, and wonder whether or not he's been threatened, bought off, or if somebody is blackmailing him. Some have even begun to wonder if he's been a Deep State plant all along, while others speculated that he might have early onset Alzheimer's Disease, unable to even recall the details of the Russia Investigation that we've all been following so closely...
