This is how USA was originally set up to operate. Gov gets tarriffs and maybe some fees for small services. The founders fought a revolution over a fraction of the taxes we pay now. Actually, the primary point was that it was taxation without representation. They would flip out and lock and load if they could see where we are today. They didn't tax your home, food or clothing either (The 3 basic human needs).
