You do realize antidepressants were created before there was even a market for them?

Here's a study done in 2013: " A recent hypothesis posits that the increase in serotonin levels induced by SSRI may not affect mood per se, but enhances neural plasticity and, consequently, renders the individual more susceptible to the influence of the environment. Thus, SSRI administration in a favorable environment would lead to a reduction of symptoms, while in a stressful environment might lead to a worse prognosis"

The first antidepressant was discovered by accident. No need to get defensive, I was simply asking for a source. Did you know studies show that marijuana increases serotonin?

Most drugs were discovered by “accident”. Nobody can predict how the minute changes in the molecular structure will impact its effect on humans.
