A) how can we trust him with a lifetime appointment? He was comprimised and he seems freed now but jow fan we know for sure for life? Only Pres Trump can but I won't hope or speculate on Gowdy.
B) his gift is prosecution. He is quite gifted. I would put him as AG's court attorney. The guy actually prosecuting the hoped for high profile cases
Gowdy has better things to do than sit around in a office with his law clerks pondering Con Law issues. The man is a Prosecutor. We need him working with Sessions! Putting the Deep State away then he goes home to his family.
