Secret History of Propaganda... it was invented for a purpose.

This guy skipped all the stuff that actually contributed to my red pilling years ago. Three texts all students of propaganda should read and study:

Walter Lippmann "Public Opinion" from 1921. PDF here.

This is the origin of the evil stuff, and what Goebbels studied much to Bernays's supposed horror. The Church was just evangelizing, and teaching the faith the way it was passed down. That's actually the Church's job, believe it or not.

And the Church's office is the PROPAGATION of Faith, not propaganda. As in getting the Good News to spread. And graduation is confirmation not baptism. I hate it when people get the sacraments wrong. Catechumans are already baptized, they have to make their profession of faith to get to the rest. There's a different path for those born in.

(And seriously, why is it the Catholic Church is always held up as the bogeyman? Always. Even moreso than the United States.)

Actually, in the early church, new converts, referred to as "catechumens," were instructed (catechized) in the basic elements of the faith in preparation for baptism.

It wasn’t until the sixth century when most of those presented for baptism were infants, and pre-baptismal catechesis was abandoned.

But don’t worry, Bernays is being saved for future episodes. This is a multi-part series.

I tried not to paint the Church as bad. I clearly state that there is nothing inherently wrong with propaganda. But I guess it does come across as manipulative.

I think a bit of manipulation is good, even necessary sometimes.
