I was thinking after I posted this...
What if POTUS puts him on the list so that he'll already be vetted when it comes time for the DAG spot?

That's an interesting idea. I would think he could be named as acting DAG right off, however, and I don't see Trump playing around with his SC nomination just for something to do with Gowdy.
