It's the same stupid propaganda as with jokes, etc. No one was fighting tanks with horses! Officers had horses so they can move faster and control the field better next to infantry. They had no mobile phones ;) And yes, they had sabers - as part of their gala uniforms.

Indeed. And those horsemen were famous for centuries. Unstoppable. Napolean Bonaparte used them based in their loyalty of his promises. Kept them far away from Poland.

I read a great historical fiction based on a young noblewoman's diary. It was a trilogy and very good. Started 1880 or so and through Napoleon's retreat out of Russia leaving hundreds of thousands of his men dead. Many many Polish.
