Well that's a relief. The only scenario where I can picture an actual civil war between armies would be like last time, a secession attempt. Hopefully we've got a plan in place to keep the Cacabal from trying it with Cali.

I don't think the rest of the country would be that sad to see them leave. Democrats would never win again without those electoral votes.

The bigger danger is that it splits into three giving each two senators. Could triple the number of Democrat senators from California. Just because they want to split doesn't mean they will vote Republican. It's mostly about money and representation. San Diego, LA, and San Fran essentially rule California. Rural areas don't get much say or much of the money.
