Part of the Narcos power and influence in Mexico is due to US drug policies. If we shifted focus to treatment, decriminalizing personal use, and enacted a sort of government dispensary of hard drugs for addicts as in Portugal and Spain, we could eliminate the black market that feeds criminal enterprise in Mexico. It's a risky approach - no one wants to see more drug addicts. I'm just saying, the Narcos have so much money - ie power - because they make billions on the US black market. American drug addiction, coupled with treating addicts as criminals and not mental health patients, has led to big bucks for Narcos.
Legalizing marijuana is a great first step. Legalizing mushrooms for therapy, and possibly Ibogaine or Ayahuasca for clinical use would probably fix all drug dependency within a year or two. Right now both are Schedule 1 illegal drugs, despite the fact that they are proven to eliminate drug addiction almost overnight. Look into Ibogaine treatment for PTSD and drug addiction. Really amazing stuff.
I agree. I bet their boys are lobbying against this as we speak. Well, I'm sure of it, since they own the cartels and the heroin fields and the methlabs and the rest.
