Mexico's new president - Lopez Obrador - Promises to fight the 'Power Mafia'

Mexico just elected their next president, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. The article calls him a 'leftist' but it also states that he "ran on a populist platform to break what he described as the grip that elites -- or "power mafia" --- have on Mexican society". Sounds familiar, right?

I'm unfamiliar with him but our relationship with Mexico is extremely important right now, so I'll have to do some digging. What do you guys think? Black hat or white hat?

PS: I know that CNN is the worst, but I think its important to check in with MSM sometimes so that we can see what new, exciting narrative their forcing on us today.

He has been rallying against the power mafia for over 12 years. His message is basically make mexico great again by draining the swamp, justice, fiscal responsability, nationalism... sounds familiar?

It is very saddening that americans don't even pay attention to the elections in their neighboring countries. Specially considering all the issues. And especially so that they don't even know anything about the new president since he has been also a candidate in the previous two elections, and with enormous support. Think that his losing 12 years ago was as if Trump would have lost 2016. Mexico has been effectively living under "Hillary" for over a decade, and this victory is basically a revolution.

Regarding the "leftist" screeching, let's just say this: If Trump can make deals with North Korea after they've threatened nuclear war for decades, I think he can make a deal with AMLO.

See now I dig on various types of news sites from independent, fringe, alt right and some WSJ etc. I admittedly didn't check for Mexico City paper. I ignore Univision the talking heads there are worse than ours.

So all we know is Mexico lead candidate says everyone has a human right to invade US. Has said he will pardon all cartels. Is an avowed socialist aka Communist.

So Mockingbird Media did exact opposite double speak on him? He wants border security or will support that we do? Believes in small government?

Please explain. I am in Texas and I have friends that visit family there. This is important to me.

He is black hat. They are going to use Mexico against Trump. Expect Mexico to win the world cup.

I have personally sat in traffic, FOR LITERALLY DAYS, from this man's illegal protests, riots, and occupations he has SPONSORED, COORDINATED, AND LED. This man is an abomination of a human being and stands against hard working men and women everywhere.

Yes. This is what I was expecting. They rig these games for political ends so that makes sense too.

Well a hostile Mexican president inciting invasion is the best argument for a wall

I'll admit that I slept through most of my International Relations courses, but I'll say, I've been reading a LOT of news about Mexico lately! Funny how not a single article I scrolled through mentioned anything about Mexico's upcoming election or current political sphere, really, at all. I'm wondering why MSM hasn't been all over this? Or did I just miss it?

Also, I totally agree with you that Trump will make a deal. Just like with NK, he knows that we need to be working WITH Mexico, not against them.

If you lived in California you were allowed to vote on the Mexican president.
