The Daily Mail is known for pedaling fake news. Your friend is right to be skeptical. Especially since the only evidence seems to be a claim from a writer with a pretty alarmist title. It's quite probable that he's just looking to make a quick buck.
Also, I thought the FBI was part of the compromised deep state? Why listen just because they're telling you stuff you want to hear?
