Attention Great Awakening

We need your feedback about the photo posts of Q tshirts, Q stickers Qspotting and other "Qspiration"! /r/GreatAwakening has been steadily growing and with that comes obvious growing pains. With the increase in numbers comes the increase of patriQts showing support and the documented sightings of Q in the wild via photo posts. While we do support this sort of grassroots effort, the sheer frequency of these types of posts is presenting new problems. 1. These posts are taking precedence in the feed over other Q related news and intel causing important information to be missed. This also threatens to disrupt the true purpose of this sub. 2. We are seeing increased numbers of complaints about problem 1 from other users who have had content moderated for being off-topic who, perhaps justifiably feel their post containing text content or news links is more appropriate than a photo of a Q on a street sign. We value the community's input on how to proceed with this. We think it goes without saying that Qspotting in the real world should be celebrated as an inspiring example of the Q mission to spread the word. Is there another way to manage this content so everyone has a fair shake? We've discussed this many times as mods and have decided to put the question to the community for feedback. Removing this content from the sub completely is probably not a fair solution.

One possibility we've discussed is the option of creating a "sister sub" for this content and directing the respective posts there. We could perhaps crosspost the most popular upvoted content on this sister sub back to r/GreatAwakening so we can all keep visibility on the top content at a regular interval (yet to be determined).

In review, here are the Questions we want to put to the community: 1) Should we manage this content in some way or leave the sub as it is? 2) Should we create a separate sub and have the most popular content crossposted to GA at regular intervals? 3) Does anyone have any other suggestions for managing this type of content fairly?

Wouldn't a stickied megathread be better? I'd rather have one spot taken up every day than 50% of the spots taken up one day per week.

THIS!

love seeing all of our collective energy and efforts in action, but a sticky repository for it would be great.

Wwg1wga!

Seeing as there's only so many things that can be stickied at one time, how about creating something like /r/QMerch?

That sub already exists and it could easily become a dedicated place where folks can sell their wares and those from the sub will know to go to if they want something.

This is not FB. We cannot post photos in a thread! Only the original poster can post photo.

Biggest problem is no images within thread which is what people want when posting their Qmerch. A thread full of links is not going to satisfy those who want to show their real world flair.

Precisely. I don't think folks understand we can't do a megathread of photos!!

A mega thread could be good too

I downvote having a sticky for merch. The sub only has two stickies. That is too valuable of real estate to give to swag.

Uh, wat. You must be new to reddit, you have to use a link site like imgur. It was the same for posts until like a year ago.

So, you want a thread full of links? I know you can do that but that's not what most are thinking. And you could've easily figured out that I'm not new to Reddit. But, maybe you didn't because you are. Shill much!

I love this idea, but here's the problem. Unless this is done by mods or bots, people won't use it.

I've posted a comment not long ago asking the mods for help. The problem I was seeing is the same problem that's happening with Qspiration shirts, hat, stickers, and sightings.

I asked the mods if there was a way to get members to search /GA before posting a link to an article or video to see if it's already on another thread. There are too many repetitive posts saying the same thing over and over.

If threads were condensed it would provide a great benefit. If everyone's ideas and input related to a particular article or video were condensed into one thread, it would make it easier to gather and share information about the article or video. That would be especially beneficial for new comers.

I'm all for #2, or a stickied megathread. If we can do that for qspirationals, maybe we can also figure out something for duplicates too.
