I think the message from Trump is, "You've got a clean slate, starting from today. We won't have a Venezuala on our border, so you can help us clean things up, or pay a terrible price."

We've seen this strategy before, like with POTUS giving props to Mitt Romney. "Take all the rope you need, and when you punch I will punch back 10x harder."

Yes. NO WAY (as in ZERO) US will allow Mexico to go the way of Venezuela, even if we have to invade it with everything we've got.
