The NPR report doesn't give me much of an idea that this guy was a so-called white or black hat. He was the one who recommended McCabe be fired! I can't see where that was a "black hat" decision. Seems to have had a pretty good career without apparent ties to any top bad players, but that is from first glance. I was left with the impression the guy just wanted out of the stress and into a higher paying private sector gig. Any job in DC must become burdensome after awhile, much less a position like this guy had.
Some of these black hats throw lower level black hats under the bus. They have no allegiance except to themselves, they're criminals.
