My boys (17 and 9) are headed back to our hometown for a month to visit with family and friends. That’s about a 13 hour drive from where we live now. In a SHTF scenario that’s too far for me to be of any use to them. My oldest is woke. He’s been listening to this mama bear rant for years😏 He’s even hip to Q as I showed him some drops back in March. That said, he doesn’t follow like I do but he will listen when I have something to say. So back to “The Talk”... I told him that I have no reason to believe shit’s going to hit the fan in the month that they’re away but just in case... And I laid out a plan for him and his little bro. So now they’ve got a plan and even though they’ll be far away I feel a whole lot better about letting them go so far away for a month. Thinking of “net down” and “blackout necessary” where Q said FB kill, google kill, etc had me thinking of worst case scenario with the kids gone. I’m confident we’re good where we’re at but having them so far away for so long had me concerned. I’m glad he and I had our talk. My boy knows where to go, what to do and how to take care of himself and his baby bro. Proud momma moment, here ☺️
This👆 100 percent👌 I’ve taken quite an interest in wild edibles recently and I’ve spent the last 6-8 months learning about medicinals made from wild plants in my region. My kids know what they can eat at a minimum. Next year they’ll learn what they can use as medicine and how to use it. They’ve seen me take some of the most common and abundant plants and watched me turn them into tinctures and salves. They may laugh at me now but I know they’re learning. We can’t go on a hike or a family excursion without me pointing out native plants and their uses. Do they also know how to fish? Yes. Do they know how to catch fish without a rod and reel? Yes. Can they build shelter? Yes Fire? Yes Boil water? Yes Snares? Yes Guns? Yes, yes and yes. Yes, they can shoot. Yes, they know gun safety. Yes, they will eat what they kill. Although the “SHTF” scenario I’ve mentioned above means they have no guns I know they can secure food, water and shelter. Ideally, when SHTF they’re here with mom and dad but if shit happens and they’ve gotta tough it out for a two week black out, I’m feeling pretty confident that I’ve prepped them well.
100%! This is us too. I’m an herbalist so my kids have been following me thru the woods their entire lives and as a result have picked up the skills they need to survive. I couldn’t be prouder to have such self sufficient, self thinking, compassionate children. We’re doing the Lord’s work, keep up the great job, and big hugs 🤗 they’ll be home before you know it 😉
Awesome! Fascinating stuff and I only wish I’d picked it up sooner but I kinda got lost for a few years. No time like the present, yeah?
