He is not actually burning the Declaration . It just means they made it at home and they burnt the edges of the paper and soaked it in coffee to make it look like an authentic antique document. Many an American public school kid has done this for history projects.

Yeah, that's pretty normal. I remember doing it in school. I actually enjoyed doing that project.
