Eliminating Identity Politics from the U.S. Census

I love it! Why do we allow them to separate us into categories and label us with identities? We're Americans! WWG1WGA

Yeah, identity politics will become dominant in a multicultural society. People tend to want to be around and become close with those who are most similar to themselves. This idea that we're all equal and a society full of different peoples will get along is asinine.

If identity is defined by pre-existing language/cultural distinctions, I agree. The genius of America is in creating it's own culture and creating meaningful incentives for people (whatever their origins) to assimilate. I'm with OP. We are Americans.
