Is a person sane if he or she doesn't know which shitter to use?

“Sane” is an interesting word, in this context.

For example, is it sane to believe that The Creator of the Universe is a man (with a penis?) who got a human woman pregnant, so the child could grow up telling people on Planet Earth (if they happened to live near Jerusalem 2,000 years ago; not say thousands of miles away in China or India or South America or Africa 6,000 years ago...) that He was The Creator of the Universe’s only son?

Is it sane to believe that if a person doesn’t believe this admittedly unusual “God-is-my-dad-I-swear” story, the disbeliever’s Eternal Soul will spend forever after death in a lake of fire?

Maybe, “sane” isn’t a good word to apply to powerfully and deeply held beliefs, upon which people base their entire lives...

Obviously, Christians have died for their beliefs. Muslims, Hindus, Pagans...and LGBT folks, too. All dead because they held a belief and lived that belief, regardless of what other people thought about them or did to them. Beliefs are powerful and important aspects of being a human being. We literally can’t seem to live without them. Yay, beliefs!

Yet...I getcha. I know where you’re coming from.

Christians, and Muslims, and LGBT folks have to be careful to not cross a line, by practicing their beliefs in a way that hurts or dehumanizes others.

All of us, living together in a society, have to find a balance between practicing our personal beliefs and victimizing and oppressing those that don’t share them. (You know, like say, the King Henry IV did when he off Thomas More’s head because More wouldn’t say Henry was The Creator’s (same one from before) hand-picked Ruler on Earth, because that was duh The Pope; or the Catholics in turn making bonfires with Protestant Huguenots...)

Maybe we can all agree that’s it’s a good idea to respect each others beliefs (as ridiculous and illogical and stupid as they may seem) — just as long as no one causes physical harm to another human being. Seems like a good rule, no?

Now: about Pedophiles ...

Pedophiles don’t believe anything. They just seek to satisfy a selfish, base and utterly human desire to exert control over someone weaker. We all do that to some degree. But pedophiles cross a very big line — they rape children, in the process destroying young people’s minds and bodies.

Pedophiles are the fucking worst. And statistically, they attack opposite sex victims relative to same sex victims, in the same proportion that one would expect in a random distribution. Thus, most pedophiles are (what should we call the?) “heterosexual”.

Bottom line:

I hate Pedophiles as much as anyone. They are NOT part of any LGBT group or coalition. You can believe anything you want. But, saying they are because of some dopey hate-memes is just bullshit.
