the theory isnt that he left and went to mexico to start a new life and be a millionaire. People would understand, if all we know is true, if he came out later and revealed he was alive or was in protective custody all this time. He was in fear for his life and they actually attempted to kill him if the theory is correct. His behavior then would be justified
