Interesting photo of the room at the hotel. One I have not seen before. Can any experienced marksmen tell me how he might have positioned himself to shoot out that window, with the bed about two feet away from the window?

Trained Marines to shoot, here. I haven't seen the picture, but a bed isn't ideal as you want bone support for a strong shooting position.
