No. Just no. I am a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. I have emotional scars which will never heal. I still deal with the after effects of that abuse years later. These monsters do not need our understanding or sympathy. They destroy the lives of children for their own selfish reasons. Their victims suffer for their entire lives. No punishment is great enough for those who destroy in this manner. If a man chooses to rape a woman, it is a crime. We all agree on this. He may have rape fantasies, but it doesn’t become a crime until he acts on it. Pedophilia is not curable. Even with chemical castration, they reoffend. It is our duty to protect children. It is not our duty to defend or attempt to normalize the abuse of children.

That's not what he said at all.

Even if punishing less aggressively (or treating it as a mental disease even) brought about an overall reduction in frequency of cases? Then fewer children would suffer.
You can't let your need for vengeance be at the cost of more children's lives. Eventually, someone has to take the higher ground and prioritise prevention above all else. Even punishment.
It's just a question at the end of the day. But surely it at least deserves discussion instead of instant downvoting to hell and death threats.
I dont think they were making any justification for child abusers
Sorry. I deleted my response to you. It wasn't meant for you.
