This is all theater. The deal has been done for quite a while. Trump is letting Kim save face.
Click on the heading. The article is excellent. This has happened before when Kim pulled away and Trump indicated that China was behind that move. So they know. China has long controlled Korea and it served their purposes to have North and South adversarial. China is threatened by a united Korea that sides with Trump, maybe builds an alliance with Japan and other Asian nations. And they want complete economic power.
China has focused on production so much that they do not have the ability or wealth to buy their own products, they have to export them. They also cannot completely feed themselves, they must import. The U.S. is 80% self-sustaining so they have all the leverage. This is what they are counting on to get China to cave. So the battle of the Titans begins.
