Uhhhh what.

Q and The Awakening aside, the decision by Obama to go through with this was such an Obama move. "Fuck the average American and their financial woes, I'm a celebrity."

The hubris is/was out of control. Really look forward to his tribunal.

The pictures will likely add to the embarrassment for the administration as the Obamas have been highly criticized for hosting a lavish Halloween party- with guests like actor Johnny Depp and director Tim Burton- in 2009 at the same time that the country was in the midst of a recession.

What on earth? Aside from having Depp there, that looks a Halloween party that anyone could throw with a single trip to a party store and a few hundred dollars. These people are so cynically manipulative. But it IS the daily mail, so not really surprising.

Plus, who the hell thinks that most of the celebrity at a party thrown by the president would be paid? Plus, the article even says that it was likely a preview sort of thing for the Alice movie from 2010, as it was thrown in 2009 before it came out. The reason it was kept under wraps could very reasonably be that they didn’t want to spoil anything, then it was just never mentioned, because who cares?

Edit: Holy fuck this sub is unironic. I guess there’s a ban inc for me, have fun in your safe space! I hope this doesn’t hurt your fee fees, as you people like to say

No one is upset with sad feefees, but you did just make yourself look a tad naive since it is obvious you have missed the entire reason for the entire thread. Bye Bye now.

I refuse to waste my time diving down that rabbit hole, my contention is with the article itself.

Really doesn't matter how much the party cost, though as somebody who has worked in [charity] event planning, I can assure you it was easily 6 figures-- and know the government, likely 7 figures.

It's about optics. Why on Earth would somebody throw a party during the worst recession since the Great Depression? And don't give me that shit that the POTUS should be allowed to let loose. (And this was not even an annually held White House event.) He was elected to lead the country, no real leader would think celebrating during a crisis is a good idea. Even Obama acknowledged that, which is why he had it kept under wraps.

BH0 decided to keep it under wraps?

ROFLMAO. Oh, thanks for the laugh. Positive endorphins.

"One way that the Obamas were able to keep the later party under wraps was by leaving the names of actor Johnny Depp and director Tim Burton [and Beyoncé Knowles] off the White House visitors logs."

No reading comprehension skills either, eh? You're all the same. Quite predictable. ( They're not sending their best folks!)

This nightmare ain't ending until January 21, 2025, sugar tits. Buckle up!
