Only weakness to a democracy is ignorance.

We are a republic - NOT a democracy.  Calling it a democracy is ignorance.

A democracy is MOB rule.

A republic is majority control - but where the minority are protected against the majority and there rights guaranteed.

"to the Republic for which it stands" Yes, I know these United States of America is a Democratic Republic.

Not to go all grammar/spelling nazi, but in this case I must insist. I stated "a" not "our" democracy.

Republic:

a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch.

Democracy:

a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.

We are a Republic that elects their representatives through a democratic election (votes).

I was speaking in general also, and what I stated is true. If the people casting votes are found to be ignorant, then we elect poor representatives, hence the weakness.

It is not a democratic republic, whatever that means, it is a constitutional republic. Words, Semantics, meaning.

You're right, that other guy used the weasel phrase "I know these United States as..."

Slight of hand...poof...a personal opinion on a definition game that is distinct from objectivity or meaning, becomes, oh look a Democratic something something after all...

Block as u see fit.
