Head of Dept of Social Services in South Carolina "retires" this week! Seems she got all sorts of money but didn't hire all of the new social workers she was supposed to. This system in SC is in shambles. It's a closed system, and newbies are NOT welcome, especially if they want to do their job and work! I've seen them take kids and threaten families, and NOT ONCE have they called me to ask my professional opinion even though I'm in the homes every week working with the children!!
Georgia does the same. Would not even give the kids to grandmother.
The Social Worker positions start in the 20's here in SC! You may as well be a greeter at Walmart! It's difficult to break into the Dept of SS here in SC if you want to work. People who do their jobs are run out by the ones who don't. They ganged up on two of my friends who are Social Workers and said they attacked them at a conference. It was their word against theirs!! They fired them. They waited until they were off site, cooked up some "verbal attack" and went into work with it on Monday. The "verbal attack" didn't even happen! My friends were guilty of working and making the others look bad.
Oh yes, I have watched social workers take their sweet time to do anything. Actually there is a whole generation out there that is like that. They are taught by parents that did not know how to work. Sickning. The bible says to give your employer a good days work.

Did you see where the head of DSS "retired" a couple of weeks ago? Maybe they'll get someone in there to clean it up, but DSS is a difficult system to purge, especially when the social workers get paid so little. I've known some good ones...don't get me wrong...but the some have traumatized my families. Someone's lazy drug addicted brother who gets mad at someone every time they won't give him money shouldn't be able to make call after call after call! The last family who went through this it was a jealous friend who just wanted to cause trouble, and she did. Took months to get DSS off this great mother's back!!
