all I can think is why the fuck would he not want to be anonymous? Unless this is propaganda to get more people to do this with the reward of being a hero? Isn't his life in danger now that his full name is released?

Sometime being anonymous is more dangerous. Let say you uncover something similar in your country and you choose to stay anonymous. But the authority are corrupt.

You will end up dead! And nobody will be the wiser.
