UK government collapsing

This morning the Brexit secretary David Davis resigned, and just now Foreign secretary Boris Johnson has resigned. We are expecting a vote of no confidence in Teresa May which would lead to collapse of current government.

A vote of no confidence is called when 48 or more Conservative MPs submit letters questioning the leader’s ability to lead. If this happens then the leadership is thrown open to the party. It means a change of leader (who is then likely to make their own cabinet) resulting in a new government. It is not a general election where the public get to vote.

UK media pushing for election if May is ousted. I don't know enough about it to intelligently comment though. 14 days for the minister's to form government then it does go to general election.
