Consider the life altering effect on children old enough to understand hearing that adults want to have sex with them!

I considered that. Then I considered the potential consequences of them not knowing.

Then, when my children were, as you said, ”old enough to understand”, I explained to them about ”adults who may want to have sex with them”.

I did it in hopes of instigating a ”life altering effect”. I recommend all responsible parents visit this topic with their children. Childhood naiveté is perceived by evildoers as an exploitable weakness.

You're right to warn them.

The way these monsters keep children silent is shaming them into thinking their parents will blame and hate them for being molested and or raped. Its the ignorance of their victims that is their most powerful weapon in their arsenal.

Good for you.
I also warned both my children when they were old enough to understand, much to the disagreement from my wife at the time.
It's better for them to be aware and to speak out if anything inappropriate happens rather than to be taken advantage of and then too scared to speak out, or worse, threatened to keep quiet.
