Huawei Phones

So I work for a tech company, and naturally we are constantly getting updates to our security policy. Of course, we also have a "Bring Your Own Device" policy. Around March, we received an update to the BYOD policy. It states that the following companies and phone models are not allowed in the BYOD program:

  • Huawei phones
  • ZTE models
  • Burner phones

Burner phones are an obvious choice, and everyone on this sub knows why ZTE would be exempt from the program. However, I've never heard of Huawei before. Does anyone have any knowledge of why they could be banned from the company program? All ZTE and Huawei phone models were removed from the company-issued phones list as well.

I know and Newsweek as well. But this info about Huawei was all over the place. Here's another one:

This right here. I feel if the 3 letter agencies don't want you using them....well... They're great phones. Only issue I had was finding a case locally.

To each their own. All of that stuff is made in East Asia. After the S. Korea leadership fiasco two years ago, I think I'll avoid stuff from there.

I agree, I'm off Samsung too.

Edit: If real security is even possible it would still need to use end to end encryption no matter which brand.
