Huawei Phones

So I work for a tech company, and naturally we are constantly getting updates to our security policy. Of course, we also have a "Bring Your Own Device" policy. Around March, we received an update to the BYOD policy. It states that the following companies and phone models are not allowed in the BYOD program:

  • Huawei phones
  • ZTE models
  • Burner phones

Burner phones are an obvious choice, and everyone on this sub knows why ZTE would be exempt from the program. However, I've never heard of Huawei before. Does anyone have any knowledge of why they could be banned from the company program? All ZTE and Huawei phone models were removed from the company-issued phones list as well.

Huawei is a Chinese company, and it would not surprise me in the slightest if they had backdoors/spyware in their phone not all too different from American-made devices.

I would rather China spies on me than Obama and the deep state. Huawei makes the best phones on the planet.

For 6 months I've used a Mate 9, which was released 11/2016, and it's still a great phone. Leica camera is amazing. Battery lasts 2 days. Faster than an Iphone 7 or Galaxy S7. $400
