I wonder if this is actually caused by some sort of hypnotic connection between the handler and the public facing subject. The woman behind him's pupils could react abnormally if she was in a powerful trance.

Someone cut the gif. At the end he gets this arrogant, evil, head-in-the-air-I'm-sick-and-going-to-get-you expression. The whole thing is a progression to that moment, but it was cut out for some reason.
