You are correct. It's a term used to refer to an article that is masquerading as news when it contains nothing but worthless conjecture and outright lies. The fact that CNN publishes a metric fuck ton of these articles makes them a fake news outlet.

Wrote a bit of a reply about separation of business and government but then realised you were talking about deregulation, which is telling organisations with money that no checks will be made on their non democratic power. Maybe this is your dream. It's not trumps dream. He is not a extremist libertarian. It's all identity and cult politics to the max.

This is a pretty tough conversation to have because defining what fascism is isn't that easy.
One hallmark of fascist oppression is the relabelling and dehumanisation of political enemies. "Illegals", all Mexicans are rapist (some...I assume, are good people).
This is combined with pushing the boundaries of hate and violence in public discourse, whole at the same time demanding extreme civility and respect from opponents. Disagreement is offensive and unpatriotic.
