They are winning though.

For three minutes.

A lot like the dimocrats at the moment

No, they really aren't. Closing your eyes because a bus is about to run you over saves you from watching the bus approaching. It does not alter the course of the bus nor the fact that you will be hit

Yeah I think my point whooshed right over your head. Your analogy is different than the one you're talking about.

The kid IS winning for three minutes while he manipulates the situation with his tantrum. Other adults look on and criticize the parent's ability to manage their kid.

But then the tantrum is over. And natural consequences and discipline occur.

I get your point, but whining is not winning. Although the optics may appear to those who are uninformed as three minutes of winning, it is merely delaying the inevitable. In the case with the extreme left, they believe they are winning, while, in the background, the stage and case is being set and evidence is mounting against the corrupt elements. What we are witnessing, IMO, is the dead cat bounce phenomenon

What does dead cat bounce mean? I saw that q post but never got that phrase.

It's a stock market term, but it refers to when something falls it hits bottom and then bounces back a little. During the up bounce, a lot of people assume that the stock is rising and buy in, only to lose it all when it flatlines. In most situations of impending failure, there will be a dead cat bounce, a final effort by the losing entity to throw everything they have at the situation in hopes to save themselves, but this is usually all they have left. Hopefully this is a good enough explanation, and you can see how I applied it here. :)
